Lewis Talmage Fly Sr., 75, son of Robert Thomas Fly and Martha Cogdell Fly, returned to his Father in Heaven on July 17, 2010, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimers. Talmage was born May 1, 1935 in Wilson, North Carolina. He lived most of his life in Portsmouth, Virginia where he graduated from Wilson High School. He served in the United States Army and apprenticed with the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard where he honorably retired in 1990 with 35 years of service. Talmage is a member of the Church of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served faithfully.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Roseleen Tilley Fly and their 4 children and families;Fabriena Robertson and husband Greg , their daughters, Miranda Dudley and husband Rob, Schylar, Shelby and Riley; Melinda Adams and husband David, their children, Andrew, Madelyn and Camryn; Stephanie Dignard and husband Mark, their children Morgan and Cole; Lewis T. Fly Jr. and wife Jennifer, their daughters Jordan and Rachel. He is also survived by a brother, Aulsa Fly and wife Jean of Suffolk and a sister Charlotte Zicafoose of Portsmouth and many nieces, nephews and extended family.The family will receive friends Monday evening, July 19, 2010 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS church located at 1115 Cherokee Rd. Portsmouth, Virginia. A funeral will be held July 20, 2010, 9:30 a.m. at the same location. A private Interment will be at the Albert G. Horton Veteran Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked, that memorial donations be made to a charity of choice. Our deepest thanks go to all who helped with his care and offered words of encouragement.
