Leora E. Carson
Chesapeake-Leora E. Carson, 93, died at home on March 4, 2010. She was born on July 26, 1916 to John and Nettie Junken. Mrs. Carson was a native of Cherryvale, Kansas; but Dover, New Hampshire is where she called home. Mrs. Carson worked at Singer Sewing for many years as a sewing teacher and later enjoyed teaching sewing lessons to the Dover community at her home in New Hampshire. Mrs. Carson was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Raymond T. Carson, Sr. She is survived by her son, Raymond T. Carson Jr. and wife Cynthia, a granddaughter, Jody Carson Foley and husband Joseph, and step-great grandchild, Philip. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Junken and a sister, Susie Junken.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 6, 2010 in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Michael Reaves. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 5615 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth 23701 or to Nansemond Suffolk Academy, Pruden Blvd., Suffolk.
