Martha Richardson Boone, 93, was surrounded by her family when she peacefully went to be with her Lord on Sunday. She was a native of Portsmouth and the President of Boone Distributing Co. Inc. Martha was a founding member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, where she served on the church vestry, and was a long standing member of the Episcopal Church Women. She was instrumental in establishing the St. Stephens Chapel at St. Christopher's. She was a volunteer for over 20 years at the Children's Museums of Portsmouth a member of the Lynn Shores Garden Club and a life member of the Virginia Garden Club.
Mrs. Boone was predeceased by her mother, Willie Skeeter Richardson, father, Melvin Hackney Richardson, husband, Harry Lindsay Boone, Sr. She is survived by her son, Harry Lindsay Boone, Jr, and wife, Carole Borjes Boone of Smithfield; and her half sister, Garnett R. Lowe.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by The Rev. Eileen Walsh. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel from 7-8p.m. Wednesday. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 3300 Cedar Lane Portsmouth, VA 23703
