Betty Anne Cherry Wilkerson, 82, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. She was a native of Norfolk Co, and a devoted member of Churchland Baptist Church. Betty served her community as the Head Voting Registrar for Norfolk County for 40 years, and she was a leader for the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert C. Wilkerson, Jr.; 3 daughters, Cheryl A. Wilkerson, Betsy P. Laster, and Mollie L. Wilkerson; a son, Robert C. Wilkerson, III and his wife, Mildred G. Wilkerson; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Wilkinson and husband, Justin L. Wilkinson and Alex M. Wilkerson; a great granddaughter, Dakota L. Wilkinson; a sister, Aline Hartsell and husband, Bob; sister-in-law, Florence Cherry; nieces, Cydney Cavender and husband, Neil, Sandy Richardson and husband, Branch, Anita Austin and husband, Leanard; nephews, Ricky Nuckels and wife, Sharan, Bobby Hartsell, and Allen Palmer Cherry, Jr. and wife, Pat. Betty loved and cherished her family and friends. Betty knew the challenges of aging but those challenges were balanced by the joy of spending time with her grand-children and her great-granddaughter.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Churchland Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel Friday from 6-7:30p.m. and they suggest memorial contributions to Churchland Baptist Church 3031 Churchland Blvd. Chesapeake, VA 23321
