William Albert Goodman, 95 passed peacefully Thursday, June 24 at Province Place of Maryview in Portsmouth, VA keeping his quiet wit to the end. Born May 6, 1915 in Nashville TN. Graduated from Hume Fogg High School in 1934. He served in the Army Air Corp in WWII. He was an Accountant at Dr. Pepper Co. Secretary & Treasurer of Summer Construction Co. until 1975 & Walton Construction Co. until he retired. Bill was an Avid golfer until age 88. Member of Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville. Mason for over 50 years. Co-Founder Progress Inc., a not-for-profit organization for adults with developmental disabilities. Survived by William A. Goodman, Jr. of Nashville, Gail and Neil Sasser of Suffolk, VA, and Dave & Sophie Goodman of Chantilly, VA, as well as three grandchildren; Sabrina, Christina, Alex, and three great-grandchildren; Adelaide, Jake, and James. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ann. A Memorial Service will be held at Province Place of Maryview, 1 Bon Secours Way, Portsmouth, on Saturday July 10th at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Aaron Brittain. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Progress Inc. 319 Ezell Pike, Nashville, TN 37217.
